Today, we are delighted to officially announce the locations of the two founding hubs of the Autism NZ Charter School, which is scheduled to open in February 2027.
Our hub locations are:

📍 Wellington Hub
40 Taft Street, Brooklyn, Wellington
We know many families, supporters, and stakeholders have been eagerly awaiting this announcement, and we thank you for your patience.
While we had hoped to confirm our locations earlier, the process took longer than anticipated. In Auckland, council consent processes required additional time to complete. In Wellington, we took the opportunity to continue searching for a property that better aligned with our vision for an autism-focused educational environment. Although this resulted in some delay, we are confident that the outcome is significantly stronger for the long-term success of the school and the learners we will serve.
We are thrilled with both sites. They provide an exciting foundation from which to create welcoming, inclusive, and neuro-affirming learning environments designed specifically to support autistic learners to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
The confirmation of these locations marks a major milestone in bringing the Encompass Education Hub to life. For many years, autistic learners that have disengaged from learning, and their whānau have been seeking greater choice and more specialised educational options. These hubs will help us deliver a model of education that recognises strengths, supports individual needs, and enables every learner to achieve success.
Over the coming months, we will share further information regarding campus development, staffing, and opportunities for ongoing engagement with whānau and the wider community.
